Iranian state run media have been howling against the Syrian people’s uprising for the past weeks. Iranian officials have been hammering against the ‘national liberation army’ calling them agents and ‘disrupters’. Some have even accused the people on the streets as being brainwashed and instigated by the west. There are conflicts in the regime as the implosion within the hierarchy is deepened. Parameters effecting the implosion have certainly been economic and basically of the innate failure of the mullahs to run the country and face rising dissatisfaction. But one major fear always heads speeches in Friday prayers; official interviews and State run media editorials: The relation between the Iranian resistance (MEK) and the Syrian uprising and forces in that trend.
The Iranian opposition TV, has been broadcasting live interviews with Liberation Army commanders on the ground and activists or members of the Syrian resistance council into Iran. Each speak of a relentless struggle to fight any tyranny and rejecting Iranian mullahs tentacles and proxies in that country, head of all which is Assad. I was watching an interview two days ago with a member of the Syrian council who said the people are aware of the threat of Islamic Fundamentalism because they learned much of the MEK experience in facing the mullahs in Iran. He said they all seek a pluralist sate in which there is a separation of church from state.
He also said the people are aware of the Russian and Chinese aid to Assad. They called on the Bluff to cut off the resistance through a plan that was proposed unilaterally by the UN.
He also called for all aid and help in distinguishing the resistance from alleged “infiltrations” that may muddy waters and be negative for the resistance. The whole interview was in Arabic with Farsi translations.
This seed is a statement about Tehran’s fear of the mounting effects of this issue.
